CursorFlow records, edits and exports on your Mac. Your recordings never leave it unless you share an exported file yourself. This page lists everything that does go over the network, and why.
What the app sends
- Licence activation. When you enter a licence key, the app sends the key, your Mac's name (for example "Anna's MacBook Pro") and a one-way hash of your Mac's hardware ID to Polar, our payment provider, so a licence can be limited to 2 Macs. The hardware ID itself never leaves your Mac.
- Licence checks. With a licence, the app confirms it with Polar when it starts, sending the key and its activation ID. The free version sends nothing.
- Update checks. Once a day the app asks cursorflow.studio whether a new version is out. That request carries the app version and your IP address, which our server keeps in its logs for 14 days. You can turn checks off in Settings → General → Updates.
- Captions. Captions use Apple's speech recognition. For languages your Mac can transcribe itself, the audio stays on your Mac. For other languages, the audio of that recording is sent to Apple to be transcribed, under Apple's privacy policy.
There is no analytics, crash reporting or tracking in the app.
Email updates (optional)
You can give us your email in the app to hear when CursorFlow updates. Nothing is sent to you until you click the link in the confirmation email. We store your address, when you signed up and confirmed, and the IP address you signed up from, so we can show you asked to join.
The list runs on our own server in Germany. Emails are sent through Amazon SES in Frankfurt. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We don't sell or share the list.
Buying a licence
Payments are handled by Polar, the merchant of record. Polar collects your payment details and email address under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and licence, so we can help with support and refunds.
This website
cursorflow.studio counts visits with self-hosted Plausible: no cookies, no personal data, only totals. Like any web server, ours logs IP addresses and pages requested, and deletes those logs after 14 days.
