Cursorful vs CursorFlow: an honest comparison

Cursorful vs CursorFlow comparison
Cursorful vs CursorFlow — written by the person who builds one of them.

Full disclosure: I build CursorFlow. Cursorful is the auto-zoom recorder people most often compare it with, so here's the straight comparison — including where Cursorful is the better pick.

Prices and features as of October 2026, taken from cursorful.com and my own release notes. Both products ship often, so check before you buy.

The short version

  • Pick Cursorful if you record mostly inside the browser, want a free tier with no watermark for personal projects, or need Windows or Linux.
  • Pick CursorFlow if you're on a Mac and want a built-in teleprompter, keystrokes on screen, or privacy masks that follow scrolling content — or you want to try every feature before paying.

Browser extension vs native app

This is the real split. Cursorful started as a Chrome extension: it records a browser tab, works in Chrome, Edge and Brave, and runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. Recording anything outside the browser needs Cursorful Pro, which adds a desktop app for Mac and Windows.

CursorFlow is a native macOS app. It records any app or the whole screen from the first launch, along with webcam, microphone and system audio on separate tracks. It only runs on a Mac (macOS 15 or later).

If everything you demo lives in a browser tab, the extension is the lighter tool. If you show a desktop app, a terminal or a design tool, you need the desktop route either way.

On price they're close. Cursorful's lifetime offline updates beat CursorFlow's one year — if long-term updates matter most to you, that's a point for Cursorful.

Where Cursorful wins

A free tier without a watermark. For personal or non-commercial videos, Cursorful's extension costs nothing and leaves no mark on the export. CursorFlow's free exports carry a watermark until you buy the licence.

Windows and Linux. CursorFlow is Mac-only. If your team records on mixed machines, Cursorful covers them all.

Browser-first workflows. Hiding tabs and bookmarks is one toggle in Cursorful. In CursorFlow you crop the browser bar out yourself.

Where CursorFlow wins

Everything on the free tier. Desktop recording, cursor smoothing, mic, webcam and 4K are all Pro in Cursorful. In CursorFlow they work before you pay; the licence only removes the watermark.

A built-in teleprompter. Your script scrolls on screen and never appears in the recording. More on why that beats a second screen.

Tutorial tools. Keystroke overlay shows the shortcuts you press, and privacy masks keep sensitive areas covered as the page scrolls.

The decision matrix

Pick Cursorful if most of these apply:

  • Everything you record happens in a browser tab.
  • You need Windows or Linux.
  • Your videos are personal or non-commercial and you want no watermark for free.
  • You want cloud storage included.

Pick CursorFlow if most of these apply:

  • You record desktop apps, not just the browser, and you're on a Mac.
  • You read from a script and want the teleprompter built in.
  • You make tutorials and want keystrokes and scrolling privacy masks.
  • You want to try every feature before paying anything.

CursorFlow has a 14-day refund, so trying it costs nothing. Download the DMG here. Still comparing? Here's Screen.studio vs CursorFlow and five Loom alternatives for Mac.
